Kirk: Congress Misses Another Opportunity To Effect Real Change On Gun Control

Statement

Date: June 21, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) today issued a statement following the Senate's failed attempts to pass meaningful gun control reform in the wake of the Orlando shooting:

"Congress missed another opportunity to protect more Americans from gun violence," said Senator Kirk. "I'm disappointed we could not advance Feinstein/Kirk legislation to keep weapons of out of the hands of suspected terrorists or bipartisan bills to finally close the gun show loophole and to stop gun the trafficking and straw purchasing that fuels Chicago gangs. With fifty shootings this weekend in Chicago, the horror of gun violence is robbing us of a whole generation."
